Zener Diode

Zener Diode is a surface contact crystal diode made of silicon and is referred to as a stabilivolt for short. It is a semiconductor component with high resistance up to the critical reverse breakdown voltage. When the stabilivolt is in a reverse breakdown, its terminal voltage is almost constant in a certain current range (or in a certain power loss range), showing stable voltage, so it is widely used in stabilized power supplies and limiting circuits. Stabilivolts are graded according to breakdown voltage. Due to this characteristic, stabilivolts are mainly used as voltage regulators or voltage reference components. Under higher voltage, stabilivolts can be connected in series to obtain higher voltage stability, which is called a bidirectional stabilivolt.
